Royalty Trusts

A royalty trust is a type of investment vehicle that holds interests in natural resources or real estate, primarily focusing on generating income from royalties. These trusts do not engage in exploration or development but instead distribute the income earned from leasing land, extracting minerals like oil, gas, or coal, or from real property. Investors in royalty trusts receive payments, usually monthly or quarterly, which are derived from the income generated by these assets. This setup often leads to high yield returns, but the payouts can be variable, depending on the performance and prices of underlying commodities. However, trusts typically do not reinvest in growth, leading to a depleting asset over time.
